IOC tops in 2015 Fortune 500 companies in India list.

  • Indian Oil Corps (IOC) emerged as biggest company in term of annual revenue in list of 2015 Fortune 500 companies in India.
  • IOC tops consecutively for 6th year with annual revenue of Rs. 4,51,911 crore

Top ten companies are :

  • Indian Oil Corp (IOC)
  • Reliance Industries
  • Tata Motors
  • State Bank of India (SBI)
  • Bharat Petroleum (BPCL)
  • Hindustan Petroleum
  • Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC)
  • Tata Steel
  • Hindalco Industries
  • Tata Consultancy Services (TCS)

‘Start up India, Stand up India’ to be launched on Jan 16.

  • With objective to boost entrepreneurship at grassroots level, action plan for ‘Start up India, Stand Up India’ will be unveiled on 16 January.

MoboMoney , a contactless wallet lauched by Tech Mahindra.

  • Tech Mahindra launched ‘Tap N Pay’ contactless digital payment wallet MoboMoney for Indian users.
  • It has been billed as first commercial NFC ecosystem rollout that would allow consumers to convert cash into e-cash for payment purpose.
  • Mobomoney is based on Near Field Communication (NFC) contactless tag. It is a prepaid wallet and could be used to ‘Tap N Pay’ for goods and services.

  • PM Modi was on first official visit of Afghanistan after becoming PM.
  • He also named one block of Parliament as Atal Block after former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Sadhna Shivdasani, veteran bollywood actress passes away.

  • Veteran Bollywood actress Sadhna Shivdasani (mononymously known as Sadhana) passed away in Mumbai, Maharashtra. She was 74.
  • She was renowned for his style statement and acting prowess in Bollywood in the 1960s and 70s.

376 drugs brought in National List of Essential Medicines (NLEM).

  • Union Govt adds 106 drugs including that of HIV/AIDS, cancer and Haptitis C to NLEM.
  • The List was revised by union ministry of health and family welfare’s core committee.
  • The committee was headed by V.M. Katoch, former secretary of Department of Health Research.

Seychelles Govt gave its approval to india for building Naval Base on its Assumption Island.

  • Seychelles Govt also allocated a plot of land on its Assumption Island.
  • It will help to enhance mutual security along our western seaboard in IOR.
