SAARC countries conference on Disaster Mitigation starts in New Delhi om 03 Sept 2015.

  • SAARC stands for “South Asian Association on Regional Cooperation”.
  • The conference seeks to chalk out and undertake various joint efforts on various issues related to disaster mapping and mitigation in the member nations.

PM Narendra Modi releases two commemorative coins of 125 rupees and 10 rupees in the memory of former President Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

  • The coins were released the coins at a function of his interaction with the central school students at Zorawar hall, Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi.

RBI decided to issue to coin of Rs 5 on golden jubilee of Indo Pak War 1965.

  • Coins will be issued under in The Coinage Act, 2011 and will be considered as legal a tender.
  • Obverse side: It will bear Lion Capital of Ashoka Pillar in the centre and Satyamev Jayate will be inscribed below it.
  • Reverse side: In the centre it will bear image of ‘Amar Jawan’ monument along with the design of olive leaves branch on its left and right sides. The year 2015 will be written below the image of the monument.
  • It will bear inscription ‘VALOUR AND SACRIFICE’ in English on the right upper periphery and ‘Veerata Aur Balidan’ in Devnagri script on the left upper periphery.

Haryana Govt wins “Skoch Order of Merit National Award” for implementation of e-governance and IT initiatives in state.

  • The same was announced by CM Manohar Lal Khattar in the state Assembly on the second day of the monsoon session.
  • The award will be presented to the state government on 22-23 September, 2015.
  • The award is given by Skoch Consultancy Services Private Limited, a strategy and management consulting firm founded in 1997.

Vinod Dasari appointed as President of the (SIAM), an automobile industry body.

  • SIAM stands for “Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers”.
  • Vinod Dasari is the Managing Director of Ashok Leyland.

Other Key Appointments :

  • Arvind Saxena : Vice-President of the organisation. He is president of General Motors India.
  • Kenichi Ayukawa, Maruti Suzuki India MD and CEO, was appointed as the Treasurer of SIAM.

Special MGNREGA cell estabilished by Punjab Govt to coordinate effective implementation of the National rural Employment Guarantee Scheme in state.

  • It has been established by Punjab Rural Development and Panchayat Department at Chandigarh with an outlay of 233 crore rupees.
  • This cell will monitor implementation of Union Government’s flagship 100 days employment guarantee scheme of MGNREGA.
  • It will also monitor the wage rate under MGNREGA which has been fixed by Union Government on the basis of consumer Price Index- Agricultural Labourers (CPI-AL) which is implemented on 1st April every year and will be applicable for whole financial year.

India, Austrailia partnered to deepen their bilateral defence partnership .

  • The decision was taken after the delegation-level talks between Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and his visiting Australian counterpart Kevin Andrews in New Delhi.
  • Focus on maritime security ties in the Indian Ocean region and acknowledged the importance of freedom of maritime navigation.
  • First-ever bilateral Maritime exercise AUSINDEX between both countries is scheduled to be held in September 2015.

Union Govt. cancelled registration of Greenpeace India over receiving foreign donations.

  • The license was cancelled by Union Ministry of Home Affairs as per under Section 13 of Foreign Contribution Regulations Act (FCRA), 2011.
  • Greenpeace India will be not able to receive any kind of foreign donations from its international network.
  • Earlier in April 2015, MHA had suspended the license of Greenpeace India for six months for mixing foreign and domestic funds and not disclosing the movement of its funds.

Marvan Atapattu resigned as head coach of Sri Lanka cricket team.

  • Sri lankan Cricket board accepted his resignation.
  • His resignation came just two-days after the team’s Test series loss to India at home.
  • The series loss was their first to India on home soil since 1993.
