Sakaar, an Augmented Reality Application launched by Union Government.

  • Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Development of North-Eastern Region (DoNER) Jitendra Singh on 15 June 2015 launched an Augmented Reality (AR) application named Sakaar to highlight the achievements of the Department of Space.
  • The application has been developed by Development and Educational Communication Unit (DECU) of ISRO for Android devices.

A Book titled Education of Muslims: An Islamic Perspective of Knowledge and Education – Indian Context edited by Professor JS Rajput, launched by PM Narender Modi.

  • Objective : The book is aimed at informing and educating policy-makers, scholars and readers about role of Islam in pursuit of education and knowledge.

SunEdison Inc, world’s largest renewable energy development company, 16 June 2015 acquired Singapore-headquartered Continuum Wind Energy Limited for an undisclosed sum.

  • With the acquisition of Continuum, SunEdison added significant assets and a skilled wind development team to drive further growth in the renewable energy development platform.

Denmark’s Mogens Lykketoft elected as President for heading the upcoming 70th session of United Nations General Assembly(UNGA) which will be held in month of September 2015.

  • He will have tenure of one year and succeeds Uganda’s Sam Kutesa to preside over the 193-member body.
  • Lykketoft presently is the speaker of Danish Parliament since 2011 and is a member of the Social Democrats party.

Las Vegas multibillionaire Kirk Kerkorian passed away after a brief illness. He was 98. He was famously known as a casino tycoon, Hollywood mogul, airline owner and auto industry investor.

  • Kerkorian founded MGM Resorts International (MGM.N) and was its largest shareholder.
  • He built the world’s biggest hotel in Las Vegas, the desert gambling capital, where he first made his fortune in the 1950s and 1960s.

Union government appointed Nilesh Sathe, Chief Executive Officer of LIC Nomura Mutual Fund Asset Management Company, as the member-life of insurance regulator IRDAI. Sathe will join the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) on July 1 and have a four-year long tenure at the Hyderabad-headquartered insurance sector watchdog.

Prolific striker Sunil Chhetri became the first Indian footballer to score 50 international goals during his team’s 2018 World Cup qualifying match against Guam.
